A lifelong New Yorker makes an authorial debut
A moving and witty celebration of the city nine million people call home.
Seventeen syllables
for nine million people?
This will never work.
Born in Manhattan during WWII, Peter C. Goldmark, Jr. has lived most of his life as a New Yorker. As a creature of public life, Peter has run foundations, newspapers, and government agencies, including the Rockefeller Foundation and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He began writing poetry at the age of 40, though mostly privately, as a vehicle for making sense of the world. Peter reached out to COMMIT to help brand and publish his latest collection.
We took Peter and his Word doc of haikus through our process. The COMMIT team edited and designed his book, created a brand and website around it, and launched a PR strategy that garnered hits in Time Out NY and the New York Post. Originally intended to self-publish, the book was picked up by a publisher. We made their lives easy with the design and edit ready to go and all marketing materials in place for a successful launch.
What we did:

“The COMMIT team is among the very best – top 3% - among those I have known and/or hired in a long career and exposure to hundreds of firms. They combine intellectual breadth and first-rate conceptual agility with hard work, thorough follow-up, and remarkable focus on detail. They bring drive and passion to the tasks at hand.
They can work on the path-breaking, innovative side of the task; and they are equally at home on the nuts-and-bolts side, hammering the practical elements into place. To put it simply: they bring both imagination and discipline to the undertaking at hand. Most organizations can bring one or the other; very few organizations or teams bring both.
The COMMIT team is strict in their honesty and frankness, and unlike many firms they do not in any way manipulate the schedule or the phases of work to drive up the cost. It is a huge advantage to have working on your agenda a team that is as gifted, as driven, and as trustworthy as they are.”
